Chutti ("Holiday" in Hindi) (M) 11/27/2014
Identifying Features:
Chutti weighs around 5500 lbs (as of 12/2024) He is larger and has more folds around his neck. Chutti may be seen in one of the new elephant exhibits across from the jaguars.

May be seen in either exhibit (formerly elephant) along main outer tropics trail
Giant Anteater

Identifying Features:
CONSERVATION: The Phoenix Zoo supports the Anteaters & Highways Project in Brazil, which is working to understand and mitigate the threats that highways pose to giant anteaters. This project also monitors the release of orphaned giant anteater pups to evaluate best practices for reintroductions.

Mary (F) ~1917-1927 (Volcan Darwin)
Mopey (M) ~1928 (Volan Darwin)
Lola (F) ~1989 (Cerro Azul - Iguana Cove)
Elvis (M) ~1951 (Cerro Azul - Iguana Cove)
Bella (F) ~1993 (Cerro Azul - Iguana Cove)
Identifying Features:
Mary is curious and social. She has a smoother shell than Junior & Mopey. She weighs around 200 lbs.
Mopey is the largest of the Volcan Darwin Tortoises, weighing over 400 lbs.
Lola weighs about 200 lbs.
Elivs is around 550 lbs.
Bella is between 250 and 300 lbs.

Identifying Features:
Bennie has lighter fur than Maddie
Males (Malcolm) are all black, while females are blond in color.
