Male & female are same color, but males are larger with longer bills
Range: Florida, Gulf of Texas, Central and South America
Marshlike areas, especially mangrove swamps and mud flats
Diet: crustaceans, insects, mollusks, amphibians, aquatic plants, fish, and seeds
Breeding season based on rainfall patterns
