CONSERVATION: The Phoenix Zoo supports HUTAN’s efforts to understand where orangutans are found and how they are doing outside of protected areas in Malaysia’s Kinabatangan region. Surveys use thermal drones, transects, and camera trapping to monitor wild orangutans. Patrols help protect these endangered apes and their habitats.
