History:

  • Chick hatched on exhibit mid April, 2024

More Information:

  • Found in New Guinea and surrounding islands

  • There are about 50 species of Fruit Doves

  • Generally frugivores

  • Found in forests and woodlands of SE Asia an Oceania

  • Often very colorful with glossy plumange

  • Many species are very illusive

  • Closely related to imperial pigeons
