  • Fourth largest species of tortoise after Sulcata, Galapagos, and Aldabra.

  • Large and attractively marked, with high, domed carapaces

  • Marked with black blotches, spots or even dashes or stripes.

  • Each tortoise's markings are unique

  • Found in the savannas of eastern and southern Africa

  • Herbivore - grasses & succulents

  • Life span - 50+ years

  • IUCN Status - Least Concern
