  • Goose-like

  • Found in South America and Africa 

  • Huge flocks numbering in the thousands

  • Freshwater bodies of water

  • Feed on grass, seeds, and other plants

  • Mainly forage at night

  • Sometimes known as 'tree duck'

  • Nest in cavities in trees - babies have to jump out of tree and land in leaf litter

  • Undergo flightless molt period after breeding
