History:

  • Acquired in 2017 from private owner.

  • Castrated male (gelding). 

  • Select volunteers able to groom, pick up hooves, and walk. 

  • He is allowed turnout in the Windmill Yard and Equine facility.

More Information:

  • A mule is the offspring of a male donkey (jack) and female hors (mare).

  • A hinny is the offspring of a female donkey and male horse.

  • A mule is easier to obtain than a hinny

  • Valued for its size and ground-covering ability (which comes from female parent - mare)

  • Stronger than a horse of similar size, it inherits endurance and disposition from donkey sire

  • Requires less food than a horse of similar size

  • More independent, patient, hardy, and long-lived than horses

  • More intelligent than donkeys
