History:

  • Acquired in 2015 from private owner.

  • She can be groomed, have her hooves picked up and walked by volunteers. 

  • She is allowed turnout in the Windmill Yard and Equine facility.

More Information:

  • First developed in Europe in the 1600s

  • By 1765, they were seen frequently as the pets of nobility.

  • Found in many nations, particularly in Europe and the Americas

  • Miniature designation based on height

  • Depending on breed registry involved, usually less than 34-38 inches at the withers

  • Similar in size to very small pony, many retain horse characteristics and are considered "horses' by their respective registries.

  • Varied colors and coat patterns
