Identifying Features:

History:

  • Most recent hatching - Mardi (F) 3/4/2025 - sent to Zoo Miami in March 2026.

We have had multiple chicks hatch on exhibit. They have been transferred to other zoos.


More Information:

  • Largest member of the toucan family

  • Beak/Bill is 4 times larger than head

  • Cover beak at night with tail - hide from predators or prevent heat loss

  • Eat fruit but will eat insects, eggs, and small birds
