Identifying Features:

History:

  • Had 2, but one of our lungfish was transferred to San Diego Zoo 4/2024.

More Information:

  • Found in swamps and slow-moving water

  • Long, eel-like body

  • Can grow more than 4 feet

  • Omnivorous - insects, snails, algae, shrimp

  • Will burrow 12-20 ft into mud and breath air during drying season
