Identifying Features:

  • Bruno is darker black on arms and head/face

  • Bruno likes keeper interaction and loves to watch visitors go by his exhibit

History:

  • Bruno arrived at the end of 2018 from Lee Richardson Zoo.

  • Renetta arrived March 2023 from the Baton Rouge Zoo. She was 38 years old at time of arrival.

  • Bruno is rambunctious and definitely likes keeper interaction and loves to watch the visitors that go by his exhibit.

More Information:

  • Prehensile tail that is longer than their body

  • Found mostly in Central America

  • One of the largest new world monkeys

  • Travel and forage in upper levels of forests

  • Brachiation - uses arms to swing through the trees

  • Eat primarily ripe fruit - 80% of their diet

  • Important seed dispersers

  • Live in large social groups

  • IUCN: endangered
