Amazon Milk Frogs in AAR have milk-themed names such as "Leche", "Shamrock", or "2%"

  • Males vocalize from a water-filled tree cavity on clear nights

  • Reproduce during rainy season, clutch of 2000+ eggs. Tadpoles hatch within a day.

  • Nocturnal

  • Diet: insects, small invertebrates, and other small amphibians. (Primarily crickets at the Phx Zoo)

  • "Milk frog" refers to poisonous, white secretions

  • No threat to humans when handled

  • IUCN: Lease concern
