  • Apollo - grey/brown face

  • Artemis - red face

History:

  • Apollo and Artemis were both wild born

More Information:

  • The owls are fed at the end of the day. 

  • They like to sit in the outflow vents of their tree on hot afternoons.

  • Range across most of US into Central and South America

  • Purpose of tufts unknown; possibly camouflage

  • Bergmann's rule: They are lighter in color and weight, the further south they live (Arizona). Birds living further north are darker in color and weigh 4-5 lbs.

  • Top of many food chains; predator of porcupine & skunk

  • Predation on eggs by racoons and crows

  • No sense of smell
