History:

  • Marquis is father to Pierre & Jacques

More Information:

  • Groups  contain several sexually mature members including 2 adult males

  • Father helps with baby's birth, receiving it and washing it

  • Both males in group help to rear the youngest members, and younger members act as porters

  • Emperors live in association with saddle-back tamarins

  • Two species occupy common territory, exchange vocal calls, and coordinate movemebntns without seeing other group

  • Helps both groups with defense against predators and more efficient food harvesting

General information about Tamarins and Marmosets

  • Generally give birth to twins (triplets and singletons do occur)

  • Young carried on back of parents

  • Large social groups often with both tamarins and marmosets

  • Males and females help to raise off spring

  • Sharp claws - used to dig into tree bark

  • Diurnal
